“Only conductor Stefano Montanari was lost “for personal reasons”. Instead of him, the young Andrea Sanguineti, new music director of the Essen Aalto Opera, is now conducting the Orchester de la Suisse Romande. And he continues where it started. The orchestra, which is rarely used in these bel canto sounds, is being led in a historically informed manner. It doesn’t sound as dynamically contrasting as last time, but it is a soft, rhythmically accentuated Italian romantic music flow that can be heard here, additionally decorated with harpsichord accolades.”
