Congrats to David Schlager for winning the First Prize at Silvestri Conducting Competition

David Schlager was unanimously chosen Winner of the 2nd Constantin Silvestri International Conducting Competition at National Opera Bucharest under none other than Jury President Frédéric Chaslin, who attested the Austrian conductor “a great future ahead”.

While Schlager also received the majority of votes from the Orchestra as well as the Chorus the competition programme was quite demanding: Mozart, Donizetti, Schoenberg, Rossini, Leoncavallo, Dediu (contemporary, Romanian composer) and Verdi.

At the final round the competitors had to conduct Wagner’s Prelude to Lohengrin, Puccini’s Soave Fanciulla and Enescu’s Oedipe – Finale of Act II (Coronation) in public.
